2 Hands 1 Neck pt.1

Hello and welcome….. In this lesson we will explore the world of two hand tapping, which as you will see can open up many possibilities. I have been using this 2 handed style since about 1989, and it all started when I learned “Elephant Talk” by King Crimson (which I later found out was played on a STICK), I had already been tapping hammer-ons & pull-offs with 1 finger like BILLY SHEEHAN would do, but “Elephant Talk” opened up a whole new world. So today I would like to share some exercises I used to build up my right hand. Exercise 1: is a basic chromatic scale using all 8 fingers, this is great for building strength in both hands…… Exercise 2: Here is 3 patterns related to a chromatic scale using string variations, always use 4 fingers on 4 frets……

4 finger 4 fret example
12th fret – 1st finger
13th fret – 2nd finger
14th fret – 3rd finger
15th fret – 4th finger

Exercise 3: is a G major scale running up & down, once you get this exercise down you should try it in every key……. Exercise 4: Here is a lick similar to the main lick from “Elephant Talk”……. Well have fun exploring the world of two hand tapping. See you next month with “two hands one neck (part 2)”
