Incorporating Other Techniques into your Tapping

Hammer-ons and pull offs are often used in conjunction with one another. In fact, the rapid alternation of two notes via these techniques is one of the most common devices in a shredders arsenal.. Another technique I like to incorporate into tapping passages is sliding. (to perform a slide simply move your finger up or down the neck to a specified point while maintaining enough pressure to hold the note).. As effective as it is on its on, it also works extreamly well with tapping. When combined with hammer-ons and pull-offs, tapping is a devastating tool for shred. Below Is a simple example from one of my own solos.

Now, I would like to discuss how I would like to do this column. I think it would of more benefit to you, the readers and visitors of Insane Guitar to write in to me with all your questions about tapping so that I can better serve you. Included with your answer in the following months column, may be anything from a multi paragraph explanation, to just a example lick, or perhaps just a yes or no answer, I’ll include all questions received in the column. If there’s anything else you would like from my column just let me know (I’ll even slip in a little porno every now and then if it’s what you want!). Thanks and keep shred’n and shed’n
