Hybrid Digital / Analogue Recording System:
The digital and analogue worlds of recording have their advantages and disadvantages. Analogue is revered for its pristine sound. However, running a facility with a full 2 inch tape machine and large format analogue console isn’t exactly economically practical for anyone but the largest studios these days. Digital technology is great for its speed and flexibility in editing and lossless tracking.

At JTW studios we combine all the advantages of each system for superior sound reproduction. We have a high quality analogue front end (mics, mic pres, converters) and back end with a top notch digital system at the core. This gives you pristine sound quality, maximum flexibility, and total instant recall when mixing.

Why Cubase SX (Nuendo) vs Protools?
Pro Tools while being the industry "standard," but that does not mean it is the best platform to record on. That is like saying that Les Paul guitars are the BEST because the were the first electrics. The point is that each recording studio has different needs. Cubase SX is the tracking, editing, and mixing system that is used here. We run an equivalent system to a FULL BLOWN PRO TOOLS HD RIG. Cubase was designed by one of the most experienced and knowledgeable programming teams in the digital audio community. Several of the programmers helped develop the midi editing environment standards we use today, over 2 decades ago.

Some advantages of Cubase over other systems (including Pro Tools):
- More plugins available (the biggest range of any system)
- Better file & take management with more complete info
- Faster and more comprehensive editing
- Supports an unlimited number of tracks/channels
- Supporting up-to 384kHz for many years now
- Supporting a 32bit floating point mix engine
- Virtually impossible to clip (digitally distort)
- No proprietary Digidesign hardware, meaning we have a much better digital front-end than a standard Pro Tools set up (Better converters, clocking, etc...)

VIDEO GAMES:
Everyone knows that a good studio is truly defined by the amount of video games that are on hand. At JTW Studios, we have not only 1 original Nintendo, but 2 set up so you can go head to head with your band mates! We also have Playstation 2 and Super Nintendo all hooked up with more games than you could ever want to play. Add a DVD player and VCR to that and you've got all the entertainment you need to make a great record and you might possibly even have some fun in the process!
